About The Band
Tribal Poetry is a commercial hard rock band hailing from Northern California’s East Bay.
They play original music which is best described as a hybrid of the unapologetically melodic sound of LA’s hard rock scene, the intensity of modern power metal, and the musicianship and experimentalism of progressive rock. This bedrock provides the foundation for an earnest, passionate and sometimes painful look at the world we live in.
The band formed in Livermore, California in 2017, although their roots go much deeper.
Chris Wilson and Ryan Perdue had played together in the bands Something Else and Identity Crisis, but over time both bands had dissolved as members went their separate ways. Despite continuing to write and record new music, it wasn’t until mid-2017 that the Tribe became a reality.
Presented with the chance to put together a set for a one-time live performance, the two men realized just how much they missed playing live.
They had an extensive catalog of original music from their previous band experiences, as well as quite a bit of new material which had been written since then.
But who would they enlist to play bass? There was no shortage of ‘hired gun’ players who had generously volunteered to step in and learn the material. But after some discussions, they realized they were looking for more than just a bass player. They wanted something ongoing… a substantial part of their lives. They wanted someone they could collaborate with, sing with, play with and hang out with. They needed another brother.
Enter Brick Montano.
Chris and Brick had known each other since middle school, and had talked about playing together in bands since their days in high school but the timing and circumstances had never been quite right.
At the exact same time Ryan and Chris began to realize that they had a Brick-sized hole in their lives, Brick was experiencing much the same thing. Although he had spent most of his life playing bass and singing, some of it professionally, he found himself unsatisfied with his previous musical endeavors. Being in a band was not enough. He needed more.
On a whim Brick contacted Chris, not knowing that Chris was about to reach out to him. And the Tribe was born.
Tribal Poetry is currently playing in and around the greater Bay Area, and making preparations to record their debut album.
